Chelsea vs Newcastle United: Clubs at Different Financial Stages
Football, Premier League
March 12th, 2022
By Ben Joseph
Both Chelsea and Newcastle United are having two different seasons. While both teams are getting the points on the pitch, there is something else going on in the background as you can already see the memes surrounding Chelsea and their players. The recent sanctions imposed by the UK government has affected Chelsea's current owner and Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich, as they have seized his assets.
Hence, Abramovich cannot sell the club, nor can he sell tickets for remaining Chelsea fixtures this season, therefore only allowing season ticket holders to attend games. On the other hand, Newcastle are probably enjoying their best season in recent times as an upturn in form, thanks to their takeover and the massive influence of funds, has helped the club win games and climb the table.
Cruising into matchday 29 of 38
With midweek fixtures already being done, Premier League fans see themselves cruising into matchday 29 of 38. This game week features some big clashes and interesting ones like Brighton vs Liverpool, Manchester United vs Tottenham and of course, Chelsea vs Newcastle United.
Newcastle will be facing Chelsea for the first time since their lavish spending in January and the Blues are expected to face a different game plan than before. While Thomas Tuchel’s men have what it takes to stop their attacking quality, it is still interesting to see how a new and energised Newcastle will flair against a one from the big six.
As interesting as it gets, this fixture could bring in goals or just slide towards the Blues because emotional times might be ahead for the crowd at Stamford Bridge. So if you are planning on being a part of this game, you can consider doing so with help from BritainBet.
Where is this fixture going to be held?
Chelsea vs Newcastle United will be held at Stamford Bridge on the 13th of March 2022.
Will it be a headache or an easy fixture for the Blues?
Newcastle United have had a massive turnaround under Eddie Howe and the different players he has bought over the January transfer window. Once all these players settled down, they went about winning games and taking Newcastle away from the drop zone. However, they are yet to face an opponent from the so-called big six of the Premier League ever since they have had their additions in January.
So how will Howe go against one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League? A strong defence? A midfield that can unlock Chris Wood and Allan Saint-Maximin soon? Well, we believe all that is possible. A four-man defensive setup that goes with 4-3-3 could be a possibility, although they still need to be aware of the threat that Reece James brings to the team.
The Blues, on the other hand, will be looking to continue their winning streak and remain in the top four. While a title race does not seem like a possibility, they could give in everything and fight for the remaining points. And with Newcastle, Tuchel could use all his attacking powers to break their defence and press them hard.
A return in form for Lukaku and the all guns blazing attack pioneered by Reece James, could prove to be too much for Newcastle. If they are unable to prevent their passes and runs, they will be in trouble, especially with Kovacic running across the midfield and being a nightmare for all defenders.
Moreover, one can never forget Kante and how troublesome he can be for any team that is ready to face him. While Newcastle do have quality in their ranks, it might be a little early for them to take on Chelsea. However, with the summer window fast approaching, Newcastle could go in and bring in more players and even aim for European football.
Chelsea vs Newcastle United: Head-to-Head
The head-to-head stats between Chelsea and Newcastle paint a whole different story. It talks about history, recent times and more. However, it does not document a new era for Newcastle which has already begun in January 2022 and will most likely be unleashed to its full potential in the summer.
So Newcastle United, having put aside fears of relegation, will add more players to their squad and start challenging for everything.

Chelsea vs Newcastle: Recent Games
Newcastle United vs Chelsea (0-3)
The reverse fixture saw Chelsea take home 3 points in the most comfortable manner. Two goals from Reece James and a penalty from Jorginho was all that was needed to push Chelsea forward and finish business. While James was out for a long time, due to injury, he is back and will be ready to ruin Newcastle United’s defence on the 13th of March.
Newcastle United vs Chelsea (0-2)
Another fixture against Newcastle, another win for Chelsea. This was visible at St.James Park where the Blues entered to take three points away from Newcastle United.
Newcastle United vs Chelsea (1-0)
Another fixture against Newcastle but not another win for Chelsea. Yes, that’s right. Football can often bring out surprises and this game was no different. It had all the flavour of being a classic, especially when you understand that an Allan Saint-Maximin assist and an Isaac Hayden goal happened during the end of additional time.
A 94th-minute goal is always special and for Newcastle fans, it was a moment to remember.
