Liverpool vs Watford: Will Klopp Now Be in Charge of the Title?
Football, Premier League
March 17th, 2022
By Ben Joseph
Liverpool are back at it again and so are their fans who will be backing them to win another title and send shock waves across the Etihad. Whether or not the Reds will be able to do so can only be told when we get to witness a few more fixtures or when Liverpool pay a visit to the Etihad. However, we currently have a game in hand that Liverpool can easily claim.
However, since the Premier League is full of surprises, we are not here to make predictions or tell you what is going to happen but merely offer a detailed preview.
The International break is over, it’s matchday 31 of 38!
We don’t even want to talk about life without the Premier League because we are done with the intense waiting period that went over 2 weeks. And now we are off to a new set of games that will go on till the end of the campaign. And what better way to kickstart the league than to come read about the beginning of the title race.
For the lead, Liverpool needs three points in their fixture and so will City when it's time for Burnley vs Manchester City. Considering the fact that both Liverpool and City are facing bottom clubs, one might believe that both teams will get a 3 pointer.
When and where is this fixture taking place?
The doors of Anfield will be opened on the 2nd of April to welcome Watford as they take on Liverpool.
The Reds Push for Glory
Going to play in the famous atmosphere of Anfield is no easy task. It is an intimidating arena where every visiting team will hear the loud chants of the Liverpool faithful and also a few words intended to bring them down. So what Watford have to do is stick to a game plan and under an experienced coach like Roy Hodgson, they have shown to do just that.
Their previous win against Southampton was something nobody saw coming, which also indicates that anything can happen in 90 minutes because the world of football is unpredictable. However, Watford are not facing any other team but one that is pushing for glory.
Yes, that’s right. Watford will be playing against the mighty Reds, who are serious contenders for the title along with Manchester City. The task at hand is huge, which makes it obvious for some to consider one team in football betting over the other. And if we also have to bring in memories of the reverse fixture, then a 5-nil game would immediately pop up.
When it comes to formations, it makes sense for any team to consider a strong defensive backing in order to prevent the attacks from Liverpool. Roy Hodgson is known to use a 4-3-3 system whereas Klopp might opt for a 4-3-3. While we once used to constantly talk about a front three comprising Mane, Firmino and Salah, we can no longer make such predictions mainly due to the depth in attacking talent.
Liverpool have too much to offer in attack and Watford have too much work to do in preventing the same. If they wish not to get a similar result as 5-nil, they have to put in their best and ensure to get everything from this fixture. Watford are also facing the threat of relegation and seem like a team that might go down.
While this fixture does not seem to fit into their wishlist, they can look towards the other fixtures to get a point or so. However, the road ahead is not an easy one because it is crowded with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and more. If they wish to avoid the drop, they require points and they need it now.
Liverpool vs Watford: Head-to-Head
The head-to-head stats paint an obvious image with Liverpool leading the line. The Reds and the Hornets have played a total of 15 games where only one has ended in a draw. A six-goal thriller was a part of the mix when a thrilling start to a new Premier League season saw Watford equalise against the mighty Reds.

The Reverse Fixture
Watford vs Liverpool (0-5)
Liverpool’s last visit to Vicarage Road and the reserve fixture were not things that the Hornets would want to remember. However, Watford have a different manager in the dugout and it will be interesting to see how Roy Hodgson sets up his team against Liverpool.
