The new season of the Premier League is only 6 to 7 games old and there’s already a lot that is taking place. Liverpool haven’t won enough games, Chelsea have a new manager in town, Arsenal and City are performing as expected, Manchester United seem to be on the rise, and Leicester aren’t on the rise.

While these are only half of what is taking place, they do cover an important portion of the league. As an unpredictable league, it is offering us with all the action and since the international break is over, we have new fixtures to look forward to.

So let’s do a complete preview of one of these fixtures and try to understand what could happen.

Yes, you heard that right. Gameweek 9 of 38 is finally here, and there are plenty of reasons to be happy about it. For starters, we have two derbies taking place in the form of Arsenal vs Tottenham and Manchester City vs Manchester United.

We also have Liverpool taking on Brighton, Crystal Palace vs Chelsea, Leeds United vs Aston Villa and more. All these games are quite crucial because clubs would want to get all the points before the league closes for the World Cup.

Since a few of the fixtures were also postponed, one can expect fixture congestion to come about in a few month's time. But for now, let’s look into Liverpool vs Brighton.

When and where is this fixture taking place?

Liverpool vs Brighton is set to take place at Anfield on the 1st of October in what will be known as an important but tough game for the Reds.

The story so far does not seem to be a good one for the Reds. Klopp and company are already behind table toppers Arsenal by 9 points. They are currently at No.8, having played 6 games, won 2, lost 1 and drawn 3. That is not the kind of result or the start to a new season that the Reds would have hoped for.

While injuries have been a major part of the problem, Liverpool also doesn’t seem like themselves when it comes to defending. While Trent’s defensive skills will always be a topic of discussion, no one expected centre-backs like Van Dijk to be a part of the same conversation.

On the whole, Liverpool doesn’t seem to be defending well and is also missing Mane in the scoring department. Salah hasn’t reached his full potential yet, and the best example of the same is his lack of involvement in Liverpool vs Bournemouth, where the Reds scored nine goals.

Thanks to that, it is a confusing period for the Reds, who require points on the board. As a club with the stature of Liverpool, they cannot afford to continue this poor run which seems to be the opposite of their form in the previous season.

On the other hand, it is a period of change for Brighton. Their famous manager, Graham Potter, has left for Chelsea and they have a new man in the technical area. Roberto De Zerbi is the man in charge.

While he comes with a good resume, it is still unclear whether his tactics will work in the Premier League. As a manager, De Zerbi has coached teams like Palermo, Shakhtar Donetsk and more.

His playing career mainly involved AC Milan and Napoli, with his natural position being that of an attacking midfielder. Now that he is a manager of a Premier League club, it is yet to be seen how he will shape his attack and defensive units.

But a club like Brighton does not make a lot of mistakes so one could be confident about this managerial appointment. However, the task of facing Klopp is not an easy one even though Liverpool isn’t in the best of forms.

Liverpool and Brighton have given us only 10 Premier League games mainly because Brighton wasn’t a part of the league for a long period. But they are in it now and will surely be ready to take on whatever comes their way.
