The headline of the previous season was the fact that Spurs are back. The club that everyone liked to make fun of quickly turned things around and under Conte, qualified for the Champions League. However, derby results are never forgotten and last week’s game will haunt Conte thanks to the number of mistakes that Spurs made.
On the other hand, Brighton had a splendid evening at Anfield. Although they looked set for a victory, they found success in an equaliser, ended up scoring a hatrick and leaving the faithful at Anfield to wonder what happened to their famous team. Liverpool were far from being themselves as they couldn’t get anything going against a fresh Brighton attack that didn’t seem to miss Porter.
We are back with game week 10 and there’s hardly any time to delve over the past week and wonder what happened. While the derbies were a thrilling affair, the teams that were affected by the same have to get up and continue their preparations for the next game.
And on that front, we not only have Brighton vs Tottenham but Manchester City vs Southampton, Crystal Palace vs Leeds United, Arsenal vs Liverpool, Everton vs Manchester United and more.
While these could be termed the big games, there is more to the week that is sure to be filled with all the footballing action that one would prefer. However, for now let’s look at the main topic, i.e. Brighton taking on Tottenham.
Considering the arrival of a new chief, Brighton might require more time to adapt even though they looked settled at Anfield. However, the focus will be on Tottenham as the world looks over to see if they have a reply.
Their rise to be the top cannot be short lived because that is not how a Conte team appears.
Brighton vs Tottenham in game week 10 is going to be held at the Falmer Stadium on the 8th of October as the final game of the day.
Even though Spurs looked like they were outnumbered by Arsenal, experts believe that against Brighton, they might be able to stage a comeback. However, the task is easier said than done. Brighton are comfortable in their attack and have also shown ways to recover the ball.
While Potter was always the one who pushed them forward, we have a new man in town and he goes by the name Roberto De Zerbi. Having coached the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk, Palermo and more, he comes with an impressive CV that fits the role for Brighton.
Starting play from the back, Zerbi prefers his teams to attract the opposition press and build his way forward. After a couple of short passes, his teams are known to create spaces for wide and central attackers and thus ends up leaving the opponent to call everyone in to defend the ball.
While we could see a few glimpses of the same against Liverpool, it might take a few weeks for this system to be fully incorporated. However, Zerbi’s teams are not known to sit back and let the opponent control the game because they always want a piece of the action.
So, Spurs are not going to have it easy. However, they do have a tactician in Conte and in form strikers and wide players. So the game is going to be an interesting one because Conte will continue to push his players and get all the three points that they need in his game.
Considering how Spurs have been performing the past seasons, it is time for them to rise up to the challenge and provide Conte with all that he wants. While their defence has improved over time, they need to be more formidable in attack and help Kane more.
The process of achieving the same will come from understanding what Zerbi brings out in his team. Moreover, Brighton will receive a week’s rest while Spurs play a midweek Champions League game. While they do have depth, the manner of their rotation will be the main matter of concern for all.
So Conte is going to have a tough week, most importantly in the Champions League. Tottenham haven’t really got off to a good start in the Champions League and that is surely a huge matter of concern for the Italian. While he has managed to bring the best out of them in the Premier League, the Champions League has been a different story.
For all the talk about the Premier League being the best and English teams being on the top, their performance in major European competitions is something to think about. While City have extended their incredible run in so many different leagues, they are yet to win the Champions League.
Considering the importance of that trophy, every team from Manchester City to Tottenham will try and fight to win. But whether or not they will be able to do so only time will tell. But for now, Conte has work to do and it begins with stopping Brighton’s smart runs.
Hence, if the jury rests on Tottenham getting a win, we say that the game is unpredictable and can end up as a win for either parties or even a draw.
Having played three games at home, it is safe to say that Brighton are unbeaten at home. They have faced the likes of Leeds, Leicester and Newcaslte and have managed to beat two of them while holding on to a draw against Newcastle.
Whether or not this fine run will continue depends upon how Tottenham handle the game. Moreover, the game is also going to be quite tough for the Seagulls because they haven’t faced anyone like Spurs before.
While Newcastle was no easy game, Brighton did create chances and get shots on target. But with Tottenham’s new line of defence, the process is expected to be a lot different.

As you can see, Brighton have picked up good results at home and on Saturday, we can see if that run will continue.
Tottenham away from home has been quite good with only one loss coming from it. However that loss was against their biggest rivals and memories of the same are going to last a bit longer.
But in the Premier League you don’t have the option of time because there isn’t any. So get up and get packing because the next assignment is a trip to Brighton. And the Seagulls will be ready for the challenge, making this game an exciting affair.

As you can see, Tottenham have a decent record away from home but sticking to the same depends upon what happens at Brighton.
Both these clubs have given us 10 Premier League games of which Tottenham takes the lead as you would expect. The North London club has enjoyed her fair share of games against Brigthon and have a slightly better record away from home.
However, in recent times, Brighton have put up a good set of games against Tottenham, which only adds to the excitement of this game. But that should not sum up the whole game because there is always room for some form of unpredictableness in football.
Teams | Brighton | Tottenham |
Total Wins | 3 | 6 |
Home Wins | 2 | 4 |
Away Wins | 1 | 2 |
As you can see, Tottenham have been the slightly better team having won three more games than Brighton. Out of the 10 games that these clubs have produced, only one ended up as a draw.
So say what you will about this game but it is going to be an exciting affair.
Last season was the one where Tottenham was getting used to what Conte has to offer. And thanks to that, they produced some world-class performance where their opponents were left battered.
However, Brighton was no easy feat because they managed to beat Tottenham once out of the two games they played the previous season.

Goals from Romero and Kane left Brighton with no reply as they continued finding spaces but no goals on the scoresheet. Having added the right players through the January transfer window, Spurs went on to put out a good game where they managed to control the pressure of Brighton and offered them with a game that they couldn’t control.
Thanks to Harry Kane’s classic performance, he was the man of the match.

Brighton got their revenge exactly a month later when they travelled to Tottenham. With a one goal lead, they swept across their opponents and managed to get all three points. Leandro Trossard, who created chances and even scored a goal was the man of the match and anyone who saw the game would agree.
However, it wasn’t an easy affair because Tottenham tried their best to win it or at least equalise. But all their efforts went in vain and that is what happens when you play football. You either win all three points, settle with just a point or get nothing out of it.
